before leaving, a note :)

fuNky_sOuL has up and left.

But not without fondly remembering this space.

Find my, hopefully, more improved rambling and more at

That'll be the URL, with a different blog name until I think of something more fitting.

I am open to suggestions though, for both. Anyone? Leave me a comment.

the name of this survey is counting blue cars

The shuffling of my n3110c's music player was done on the 2nd of November. But i'm just going over the post and the songs now before publishing this. So there's a 12-day discrepancy. So many things have happened since then. So even if this is no longer reflective of the current state of things, i'll still post this for record-keeping (OC much)

new blogspace

I just started this new thing. And I'm steadily getting hooked, what with all the Mannschaft-loving people and communities (read: picspams, fanfics, icons) over there (which is also how I got to be in love more than ever with the German national team - a level which was just waiting to be achieved, given my penchant to obsess about  things given the right stimulus, which in this case is overexposure to the thing in question).

Now I'm no longer sure where I'd be posting when I get the urge to write or record something down. I for one never thought I'd be crossing over to that side. But as of late, I'd been feeling more inclined to write when I'm in LJ. Must be the feeling of community. But then again, that reason may just be misplaced. Anyhoo, if anyone's interested, I've got a feed of my LJ posts at the sidebar, near enough to the top. It's just sad that it doesn't expand, unlike in wordpress where the older entries expand, giving you a preview of the entry. Anyway, I'll just work with this now. Of course I won't be giving this up. So then, see you when I see you. :D

Wordle for July

It's Wordle time.

There's no doubt that my last very wordy posts were related to Germany and the World Cup (and I'll no longer expound on it here, just read 'em! they're just below this post teehee). And well, there's the word time, but I doubt if it had anything remotely related to time as that abstract idea.

It's good to know that my friend Mars is still using this tool every once in a while. She saw it in my blog one time, and she kinda uses it in a more telling way since she writes quite regularly. Thus, the wordle functions like a visual overview of her state of mind for a certain period of time.

Now, thinking about it, this is quite related to the concept of radiant thinking and mind mapping. Although the wordle is not so much a map as just a collage of words most often used in a person's body of work, still, it is quite indicative of that person's thoughts. Of course, it wouldn't be as effective as when one uses the rules for mind mapping to know what the effect or impression of each word is on the person applying or creating the mind map. The mind map, when done correctly, creates and shows associations between the key words and subordinate ideas, and if the mind map is well executed, an image of the mindmap overview would also give you at first glance the focus or the general idea of what the mind map is about. For example, the words on a mind map about one's notes on a lecture on the heart may create an image of the heart.

Visual Data redux

I remembered Wordle and I thought I should try it out again. There ought to be a lot of changes since that last one. Although I think much of the stuff has been focused on my post regarding helping Philippine Ondoy victims. (Or it probably just takes data from the newest posts. I did try giving it the RSS feed for my blog but it churned out the same thing. Check it out yourself:

Here's another interesting result from one of the users of the site. This now is the result of Homer's Odyssey. 'Father' is the most numerously used word in the text.
Wordle: book 1 odyssey

Speaking of words in visual form, I remember one site I've found to benefit and/or be of interest to many of us. The site author culls information/data/statistics and transforms them to images that will immediately show us the relation of each one to the other. Take for example (see below), his most recent work on the proportion of male/female usage of social networking sites (and can you believe the number of social networking sites out there, with more adding every minute?). The conclusion is that chicks rule because of the majority of the sites where matriarchy is the norm. As the site's name suggests, information is indeed beautiful.

Suporta para kay Mica sa Phil. Bloggers Choice Award

feeling organized and clean

Alright. So tags in blogger started in late 2006. I only started applying them in December of that year. This blog is five years old. I don't suppose I should go back through all of my posts and tag them. Hopefully not. Unless I'm seized by a sudden OC attack, then I might just do that.

This new template I got is so wonderfully clean, I feel so organized. And I'm not the most organized person when it comes to some personal stuff (Oh, but my files in the PC are organized most of the time. Although there are a number of stray files, which are still in the to-do list). In fact, my tags are so varied and so many, I might just as well be tagging my future posts with the first thing that comes to mind. So it was that after installing the theme and deeming everything to be in its rightful place, I set about to grouping posts that have been tagged under common names (much like Wordpress's categories), some of which I still had to think up.

So that's that. Hooray for this theme. I love the look, and you know what, it's inspiring me to write. :D

New look

I've just about finished tweaking the new look of my site. Replacing the template means all the widgets I've put in before with their respective contents would be lost and I don't think there's any way I could just copy and paste them from my old template onto the new one. So there, almost complete.

I actually wasn't supposed to do a major overhaul on this one; it was my other blog that I was supposed to change the appearance. I've no idea yet on how to work around CSS so my only recourse was to look for free downloadable themes. I was actually becoming excited about it since there were plenty of cool themes that are downloadable. There are also a lot of cool hacks available for wordpress users so I was actually thinking of making that new one my main blog. anyway, I've already downloaded my theme of choice, trying to sneak around the admin page to find out how to install it, and even looked at tutorials. the truth that i won't be able to use those came crushing down on the site's forum. only the themes available there could be used: those awesome downloadable themes and cool hacks could only be applied if one's using the software wordpress.org. oh, well...

then just tonight, the idea seized me again to change the look of this blog once again. i browsed thru some of those offered on one site and when i found this theme, i knew this was it. I love the feel of the theme and the pizza image just added to the appeal. It's like a breath of fresh air that's just right for my current pursuits. So i'm saying goodbye to the old look (which by the way, is the same theme that KaPete is using - actually got the idea from him). For keepsakes - here's the blog in the old theme:

I've removed the shoutbox from the new layout. And the layout just seems to make the site look clean unlike before (observe the many lists on my sidebars). the Blogger navbar is also invisible by default. However, the recent posts widget won't show up, and the ShareThis button I've installed is also invisible. Gotta look into it soon. For now, I'm glad I found this template.

wordle me

Tried out wordle.net and got this:

it surveyed my page and based on the frequency of the words/numbers i used (since i haven't removed any words except the common and, at and the), it churned out this image where the frequency of use is reflected on the relative sizes of the words in the image. fun!

epiphanies from the days

ang ganda ng night sky. went out just awhile ago. if only you could keep it in a snapshot, forever embedded in one's memory. when you're feeling down, you'll just have to look up and lo and behold, the wonders of the cosmic vastness. wala lang, ang ganda lang talaga kasi.

did i say that i was stoned on the night of the lantern parade? we were supposed to watch the umc concert but then, my companions didn't really want to watch. they just wanted to hang out, and with only four of us remaining, it woudn't really be much fun. we were talking about things we wanted to do. i broached the subject of having a good time with some gin. and there we were, formulating a plan. minutes later, we were off to board a jeep that would pass through east ave. so that we could buy some at 7-11, near jo's and ace's house in maaralin st. franco, a subol applicant and binong's (mr. promil kid - galing magpiano nyan!) older brother, was particularly excited about it, especially with the thought that we'll be drinking gsm blu. haven't tasted it before. it was a first time. and it was already close to 9pm by then. he was going to be picked up by his dad by 9.30. anyway, besides all that, he's a great person. he's the only applicant i've been seeing, bearing in mind the fact that i only get to pass by the subol tambayan around 5.30 pm during tuesdays. and he was with the subolites during the lantern parade. he's really bonding with the members which is really great. and since i got to know him when we were all walking towards the shopping center for dinner, i can say he's a great person to talk to. i don't think there'll be a boring time with him. and with this new intimacy with a new person, there goes my defensive/coward attitude again. i tried to distance myself from him some moments afterwards.

now to continue with the more significant story... we had orange juice with the gsm blu, a perfect mix and then some boy bawang and munchers, a brand of green peas he strongly recommended. and i'm recommending it to you, too. sarap! we were through with the whole bottle 30 minutes later. just in time for franco's dad to come by and pick him up. i was into the 4th round at ang lakas na ng tama ko. grabe iba talaga. ang lakas! pulang-pula pa ako. mas heightened ang senses. you feel the coldness in the cold sweat of the juice container, the rubbery feel of my slippers, everything... i passed on the next round and had one during the last. i guess there was about 6-7 rounds. afterwards, i just wanted to lie. ace was still watching programs on gma while jo was already upstairs. i eventually went up to the room. both jo and i are having massive headaches and we were telling each other stuffs we don't normally talk about when sober. yeah, drunk again... tagal ko na ring di umiinom. the whole first sem, there was no opportunity for drinking. na-miss ko. pero grabe, di ko talaga kinaya iyong sakit ng ulo. di ako nakauwi. slept there. i woke up early in the morning. naumpisahan ko pang basahin iyong american gods ni kuya jeff which he hasn't read yet. interesting the book sobra. love his storytelling. hooray for neil gaiman!

the next day, i dropped by the tiangge at the chapel for the bilin of my bros. i wasn't able to buy everything at the tiangges at the acad oval. after a morning of trying to fix the things i'm bringing home, i had lunch and then tried my luck at looking for the tiangges at the acad oval. well, wala na nga talaga sila doon so i walked back. ayos lang iyon kasi i got to exercise for a bit before getting to the tiangges. i bought a pair of dangling earrings - a single-stranded bead column of around 4 colors - for P10. see how inexpensive trinkets and holiday presents can get? ang galing ng mga tiangge. maganda na nga, mura pa. i can say the same for greenhills. napadpad ako dun to look for something to wear to the up cinema ball. boho heaven siya... pero i only got to buy a pair of slippers like those of alessa's. hours of walking around for nothing much. pero okey kasi ang dami kong nakita mga bagong designs at styles. ang galing talaga. tiangges can be the solution to almost anything - to household equipments, uber hip clothes, school stuffs, toys, fashion accessories, etc.

helter skelter is a song from the beatles' white album. here's the lyrics:

when i get to the bottom, i go back to the top or the slide
where i stop and i turn and i go for a ride
till i get to the bottom and i see you again

do you, don't you want me to love you
i'm coming down fast but i'm miles above you
tell me tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

helter skelter, helter skelter
helter skelter

do you, don't you want me to love you
i'm coming down fast but i'm miles above you
tell me tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

look out helter skelter, helter skelter
helter skelter
look out, case here she comes

why this song? well, there's this movie helter skelter that i got to watch during the weekend. it's an adaptation of the real-life murders of la bianca/tate. the latter, sharon tate, is the 8-months old pregnant of wife of director roman polanski. at the forefront of these brutal killings is one man: charles manson. he is head of the family and he is regarded as jesus by the members of the family. his character was effectively portrayed. his manner, the way he speaks and most everything else about him exudes his charisma and his statements about life can really inspire people, leading them to his side. but behind all the inspiring words is a twisted mind bent on conquering the world. he says that's the message that's been given to him by the beatles through that song, as well as the entire white album, and the bible. they intend to incite violence between blacks and whites. meanwhile, the family will go into hiding in the desert. when the war starts they'll be safe there. and after there's been a winner, they're gonna emerge from the desert and defeat those who were triumphant in their initial war. and that's when they'll get to rule the world. twisted, demented, outrageously brutal. going about murdering people and then writing messages on the walls. it took months before police from different states got to connect all the murders happening in their jurisdiction. pretty explosive. and really saddening especially to the families of the murder victims, the least of which is director roman polanski. i wonder what the beatles had to say about this, particularly john lennon. i recently learned that he was alive until december 1980. and all the shooter had to say after doing the act was "I shot john lennon." there are many aspects about the guy i also learned just recently. but there, i just want to know his view regarding the white album and charles manson's claims of world domination as the message of the album.

ang saya siguro nung feeling na nai-express mo lahat ng nafi-feel mo on a certain moment or your views on a certain thing. hell, it would be great if you've got your mind made up over many things. hindi kasi ako ganoon. i could run out of things to say. i'm often undecided or i haven't thought things over about present situations regarding myself. hindi ako critical mag-isip. tinatamad pa akong isipin ang ilang bagay na gusto kong mahanapan ng sagot. iyong mga nadidiscover ko tungkol sa akin, usually spontaneous iyon. napapaisip, napupunta sa iba't-ibang direksyon ang utak ko at voila! epiphany. hindi conscious effort. so well, what's the point?

i finally got to watch before sunset although hindi ko siya naumpisahan. ang galing ng connection ng characters ni julie delpy and ethan hawke. after 10 years, most things haven't changed. binitin tayo dun sa prequel na before sunrise. now, involved na sila sa iba't-ibang tao. may asawa na si ethan with a kid, julie has a bf she doesn't see often. pero when they talk - actually si julie usually gumagawa nun - andun pa rin iyong connection. may spontaneity. ang galing. anything and everything ang napag-uusapan. ang cute pala nung waltz ni kinanta ni julie for ethan. the actress herself wrote and composed it. it was really cute and really nice. ang galing niya. imagine, only two characters for a two-hour movie and yet you've got their chemistry and the movie goes on, taking the viewer through the ups and downs of their emotions and the changes in their lives. and once more, binitin uli tayo. ethan may or may not have missed that flight. ang galing nung last shot. ethan smiling while julie was imitating nina simone when she performs. then she says he's gonna miss his flight. and he says he will and he smiles - a smile that beams of happiness and contentment right then and there. ang ganda. if only nagkatuluyan na sila noon pa. pero sobrang galing talaga. i love it! sino nga uli director? here's to more character-driven films and spontaneous conversations of the absurd and the mundane.

btw, my monitor's still horrible. the only effective color/shade here is black. and look at my blog at http://funkysoul.blogspot.com - it's orange! this is supposed to be brown.
well, it's already 10:13 am. almost an hour typing all this out. i love this release. i love to write. i love my blog. i love the people who read it and extract a little of me bit by bit of information that i give out. super galing ng technology. now, i can write better and faster. naiiwan pa rin ang ilang sinusulat ko sa aking mga naiisip pero at least, mas madali na silang habulin ngayon. hindi madalas na magasawa akong mag-type dahil fresh pa iyong mga sinusulat ko, unlike sa sulat-kamay na ang layo ng narating ng isip mo, nasa unang destinasyon pa lang ang sinusulat mo.

pahabol for today

pahabol!

got this from findyourfate.com. natuwa ba? anyhoo,

DESTINY NUMBER : 3
You are always courageous to rise to great heights. But situations around you so take shape that inspite of your desire you cannot do so without facing obstacles. But your ability to prevail over your obstacles is worthy of emulation. Your creativity and talent for self expression can never be praised enough.

Generally you are not adept at handling money.Your excessive generosity may lead to financial crisis. Thus hard earned money saved and accumulated over years may be wiped out in a matter of days.Hence it would be in your own interests if you analyse the ways the money is spent and take measures to rectify your mistakes.

Healthwise you are average . You may have to suffer from belly troubles, indigestion, gastric problems etc.

You may shine well if you are aware of your talent for self-expression and the ability to think differently in any given situation. However much depends on the efforts you make to govern your temperament.

ssssssssstttttttt....

lately, comments have been popping about in my blog. one on my very first post and the two others on my post last christmas. they've probably been searching thru the net using keywords like "getbackers" and "christmas day" before clicking a link landing them in my blog. that's how PULP head writer joey dizon landed in my blog months ago. he read my post on pedicab's song "dizzy boy" leaving a comment that left me, well, thrilled. imagine a great writer saying those things to me. he's from PULP at that. i wonder if he told pedicab member jason caballa about it since they're officemates. but, oh well, i'm one pajama writer, as one other person who publishes his/her thoughts online says so, in a multitude.

on blogs

masayang magbasa ng blog ng kung sinu-sino. seeemingly mundane happenings turn out to be good laughs depende sa pagkakasulat ng tao.

i also saved all my blog entries dito sa pc sa bahay. sandamukal na word document na may archive sa filename ang nasa folder ko ngayon, not that ang dami nila. pero one yr and five months na kong nagblo-blog so ilang buwan na rin iyon. dun ko nalaman na gray pala ang kulay ng text ng aking blog. i thought it was white all along. unobservant me. pero ok iyong effect. galing ni cara Ü oh yeah, cara's the one who did the colors, fonts and the new header for my blog. i was originally expecting a different look (i'm not a big fan of brown) but this one's grown on me.

anyway, i couldn't proceed with just copying all my entries and then saving them afterwards without snatching a glance or two at my entries. siyempre ang dami nang nangyari at marami na rin akong nakalimutan doon. astig iyong nababalikan ko iyong mga araw at nangingibabaw uli iyong dominant emotions nung time na sinulat ko iyong mga entries na iyon. at kahit maraming events na hindi nai-record, marami nang nakasamang emosyon at pangyayari sa mga pangyayaring naisulat ko. nostalgia trip talaga... kahit less than a year ago lang Ü
